The reel is usually loaded with 200 yard or so of 30 pound test line. It is important to make sure to have a leeway and the reel should be big enough to allow without jamming especially when the fish starts to run. Fluorocarbon lines are known to work best in the area. Nine feet long lines that can hold on to 15 to 30 pounds should suffice.

With so much of excitement and good fish in store it is surprising why this fly fishing Key West area is still not high in the list of fly fishing areas even for the local fishing enthusiasts.
