Warm Water Fly Fishing: Different Experience with Different Species

Warm Water Fly Fishing is an excellent method for fly fishing. Fishes in warm water respond and attack quickly than fish caught in cold water. Most warm water fly fishers go in for trout or salmon because the techniques are similar for both. Warm water fly fishing is a different experience even if it is caught in a regular tackle method of the past.

Many species in the warm water can be caught on flies which include large mouth and small mouth fishes. Bass, crappies and blue gills can be found along the rock and can be easily caught with flies. Largemouth bass usually are aggressive feeding machines. Bass is tougher to set a hook deeper to ensure a catch as it strikes violently. It is likes warm water. Bass live to eat. As a result, this can be readily caught on flies.

The best way to fish a bass in warm water is to keep the tip of the fishing rod pointed at the fly all the times. Though raising the rod tips work well, a straight pull would be a better way to set the hook on the bass. This is easy with traditional casting equipment. Deep hair tied flies are the best to try warm water fly fishing for bass. It also works well with wooly bugger or a muddler minnow. Similar flies also works with blue gill, sunfish, perch and crappie. The mouths of these fish are small. To be more productive, the flies should be tied on smaller hooks.

Warm Water Fly Fishing: Pan Fish

Pan fish such as blue gill and crappies make a good meal, though it was argued that bass of any variety would. Warm water fly fishing for pan also make a sport for a good fight and even a smaller pan fish needs a good battle. While fighting, blue gills swim in big, powerful circles. Streamer flies are ideal for crappies. So when going for warm water fly fishing for crappies always try the streamer fly. Using streamer flies the crappies can easily be tricked as crappies diet on minnows. Clouser minnows and poppers are divers in the hotter months. Select flies of smaller size as they are small mouths.

Crappies and trout are not always doubtful at the sight of a leader but using a soft 10 pound leader can assist with the casting. Fishing from the shore also can be done only if there is enough room for casting. But wading would be out of the question if one is fly fishing at the deeper waters for crappies. Casting from a boat would probably be the best way. Warm Water Fly Fishing is a wonderful experience than fishing in colder waters.
